Pros

Decent benefits for an architecture firm

Cons

Archaic work environment with terrible recruitment. Needs to recruit outside of Dallas to get better talent but seems to be hard as not very desirable. They never fire anyone and reward bad behavior. A lot of part time employees and managers so therefore lack of true dedication and hard work. For an architecture firm compares to a “good old boys club” quite traditional and not progressive from the talent pool, dress code, and projects. The senior sports leaders are certainly a big fish in a small pond where they are ego driven, power hungry/harrassment towards people below them.

Pros

There's no work culture quite like Gensler...LOTS of events, mixers, internal celebrations and vendors go all out for interesting lunch and learns and vendor parties. Im talking cloth napkin vendor parties. Your peers are the best in the biz, so you need to constantly be refining and developing your talents...quickly. The professional connections and experience are top-notch. When your card has the Gensler logo on it, doors open.

Cons

The pay...Gensler is famous for low-balling people. Fight for a good salary, because once you're locked in, your pay doesn't really go up that much. The insurance plans are meh. Not a con, just a disclaimer...the LA office is for Alphas only! If you don't come to work everyday and give 110%, if you just want a 9-5, if you aren't quick to learn or passionate about design, this place isn't for you. Go-getters only...you are fully expected to bring it and there is zero hand-holding.

Pros

Great clients and a wonderful portfolio of projects. An abundance of happy hours and social activities. Such a large company with many personalities.

Cons

Highly political- people often out for themselves. You are in your own to make your own path and advertise yourself.
