      Racism and inhuman

      *Cold blooded * We had a company meeting where everyone share their experiences about racism. I mentioned that I was white living in Latin America and that I face challenges due to price is being higher just because of the color of my skin. I was laid off less than 24 hours later. I am assuming I probably offended the Latin American CEO. By the way, I am white but I am also Native American. Maybe if I would’ve mentioned my Native American heritage I wouldn’t have got laid off? At the time Covid had just started and I was stuck in another country with the USA borders closed unable to get back to the USA because I was laid off.

      Great work environment, but I don't trust the leadership

      Pros

      I worked with great people. HP really encourages teamwork, collaboration, and having fun with your coworkers. HP works hard to improve site and company sustainability. HP supports diversity in all forms. I learned a lot at HP and really enjoyed being a part of the team.

      Cons

      The company had a bad quarter and laid off a ton of people, and then asked whoever was left to do even more with less support. The layoffs also include a scorched-earth policy where former employees basically can't ever work for HP again. The company uses a lot of contract workers in places where they're basically regular employees who aren't paid as well. Generally, I don't trust the decisions that HP's leadership makes.

      Brain drain has taken its toll

      Pros

      Steady, secure, decent benefits, some nice perks. Not a bad place to work if you just put in your eight hours and go home.

      Cons

      HP used to be run by engineers. Now it seems like the most capable people are stuck where they are and everyone else moves up. So many good people have retired, been laid off, or just quit. At this point, the cancer seems to be so invasive that it's beyond treatment.
