Pros
Health and Safety is viewed with the utmost importance across the company. Safe systems of work and close control of all H&S systems are maintained at all levels. This overarching H&S value links closely to the company's focus on employee health which is monitored and checked on a regular basis. Aggregate Industries also has a large focus on environmental management. Ensuring conformity to international standards as well as restoration and continuing management of areas no longer being used by the company. As an employee of AI I am provided with a large exposure to all areas of the company so that I have a well rounded view of the business. This large exposure has allowed me to increase my personal knowledge and experience. As a Management Trainee I have had the opportunity to shadow site management as well as undertake project work directly related to management of the site.
Cons
Inter-departmental communication can be limited at times. It is important that all aspects of the company cooperate well to ensure that the business runs smoothly. In some cases, lack of operational knowledge within other departments (or vise versa) can lead to difficulties within the business.
