Pros

There are a lot of smart people that help you learn new things. There are other opportunities because IPA is in more than 20 countries

Cons

Too much focus on quantitative details. In my time, every project was identical to the previous one and it got really boring. They charge universities and organisations more than what they pay for your salaries.

Pros

Great work ethic and incredible talent

Cons

Too many to list overall, but the global leadership is detached from local government and what is needed on the ground. That's the simplest way to put it. Rather than shifting power towards countries and empowering them with data and capacity addition as needed, they shift power towards global academics who are mostly interested in their own heirarchical struggles in academia, are under-funded, and don't have much of an understanding of long-term growth and change in countries.
