Pros

Great organization that performs a much needed service. Every day I feel satisfaction in my work and know that I made a difference in the lives of refugees

Cons

The high work load and continuous stream of refugees cause the caseworkers to just complete the core services with little additional effort to ensure the clients are actually "thriving" rather than "surviving."

Pros

Great mission, great people, always amazed by my colleagues and learning from them. As a result of working at the IRC I am better at my job.

Cons

Low pay scale for the industry standards, especially in NYC, and poor work-life balance. Expectation to work nights and weekends as necessary. Terrible work space with very limited flexibility.
