Pros

Local offices have wonderful, passionate staff, many of whom were former beneficiaries One of the fastest responders to humanitarian crises displacing populations, highly specialized in our work One of the best, most innovation in refugee resettlement work domestically THe ability to work domestically on an international development issue with an organization that also provides aid internationally

Cons

HQ structure is way risk averse, doesn't trust local affiliate staff, high turnover in local EDs. Business processes are slow, paper heavy, systems aren't integrated, therefore communication suffers and local staff have a very disconnected view of the HQ vision and structure

Pros

Mission driven, the in-country work and field office resettlement work is impressive

Cons

Terrible upper management. Lack of transparency with staff, upper management just hires their buddies (rampant cronyism), and micro-management on small things which then make your job very unnecessarily difficult. Very difficult to get promoted or get a raise (and I've seen them fire some of their best staff). People are underpaid resulting in a lack of motivation. They are disrespectful and look down on the US field offices that are completing actual incredible work, favoring the more attractive international humanitarian work. Average turnover rate in the HQ is apparently 11 months which tells you all you need to know.
