Great place to start, don't expect to stay too long

Pros

Excellent training especially for young engineers. Get to work on huge iconic jobs. Salary is very competitive if not better then most companies and also a benefit package not matched by many. The training recieved here may be one of if not the best in the industry. Having this company on your resume will look very good in the future if you choose not to work for this company down the road. Every other construction company in the US and canada will recognize you as a strong canidate for employment down the road based on the work and training you were exposed to at Kiewit.

Cons

Get ready to work some serious hours. Salary is good but hourly rate would actually end up being fairly low due to no overtime or extra compensation for going above and beyond.

Pros

Advancement opportunities are great, if you work hard and effective. The benifits are fantastic as far as 401k match upto 6% dollar for dollar, insurance program has good coverage and is cheap 10$ a month for a family of 3.

Cons

Work alot of hours 6-6 on a regular day 5days a week plus weekends sometimes.

Pros

A sense of accomplishment because of the large well-known projects that one gets to work on. Pay is very well due to the long hours. Hourly wage is a bit below a 40 hour job though. Kiewit is an excellent place for young engineers to gain construction experience which is very practical for consulting engineering. Kiewit offers a lot of in house training from on-site training to going to Omaha for week long courses. All expense paid. Get an extra week off during Christmas time when senior management recognizes their employees also have a family and a life outside of work.

Cons

Very long hours, possible shift work and sometimes have to work on weekends.
