Pros

Very flexible in WFH arrangements Some very talented people work in technology, although not for long. Up to date database versioning

Cons

Morgan Stanley is on a huge cost cutting train. They are deeply invested in moving their entire technology operations and development to India. They are eliminating vital SME's from the work-force, replacing them with very junior counter-parts offshore. No future for the US workforce.

Pros

Multicultural environment, goal-oriented approach, relatively flat hierarchy and thus relatively promising promotional prospects, flexi hours many times, supportive to bring new ideas into existence.

Cons

Weak focus on technical development more weight towards on soft skills, the starting salary looks attractive but later remains unindexed and getting less and less competitive over time, sometimes long hours but it is also an attribute of the sector.

Good company but not good Tech company

Business Outlook

Pros

Lot of talented people around. Good initial compensation. Even in bad times appraisal continues(the amount would be impacted but the process happens in a scheduled manner). Work from home is available. Unlimited paid sick leave, lot of other leaves. Strong focus on the brand.

Cons

Since the time you join, you will never feel you are working in a tech company. In every way it is a bank. Everything is highly bureaucratic and every small decision takes months or even years. Functional knowledge is valued way above technical knowledge. Most of the teams use age old technologies and there is no effort to upgrade. As a developer, most of the time you will be creating tickets, following up on them, owning projects with no actual development or even designing. There are also vendor partners who might be working in your same team and on whom there is often no quality check. Everybody is only interested in getting a promotion without any actual goal
