Pros

This was the perfect working example of work/life balance. OYO allowed its field operations teams to develop our own business schedules as long as we completed our projects by or before deadlines. OYO also encouraged us to be creative in the field and develop systems for our partners that fit their business goals and ours as a company. OYO also provides you with resources to complete in field assignments: laptop, company phone, access to technology to optimize systems during rebranding projects, apps for auditing inventory and managing/growing property revenues, etc.

Cons

The contract negotiations pertaining to CapEx distributions were not properly defined in the beginning stages, but definitely by the end of year 1 had been addressed and became more favorable for brand growth. Field sales teams (depending on the team/area) cut some corners, signed unprofitable locations making field operations very stressful after rebranding.

Pros

Paid training, enthusiastic trainers, no office, make your own schedule for the most part, get to travel around your region, ambitious coworkers

Cons

OYO botched it's US debut and presented an embarrassing and untrustworthy image. The CEO apparently doesn't believe in marketing or PR besides slowly buying and converting a few hotels in places like Times Square and Vegas. Word of mouth among the tight-knit community 100% necessary to OYO success already decided OYO isn't worth it, even with the truly epic-sounding value prop. Turns out 1-3 star hotels & motels don't really pay any taxes and keep most everything off-book, so even 30-40% revpar increase isn't worth it for them. Leadership didn't care when presented with legit market feedback. No surprise OYO let go of most of the US workforce right before the pandemic since they have a huge presence in China and knew it would be a nation-closing situation.
