Pros

Oracle is a company where you can learn the ropes of selling to big companies. Oracle has a very rigorous sales process and has sales reps constantly working to better themselves so that they can sell more software. Oracle is a great place to learn the fast paced world of enterprise software. Oracle also has amazing benefits for both individuals and families. If you are looking for a place that has amazing benefits, this is the place. Also, if you're looking for a no travel sales job where you can make over $100K, this is a great place to work. Top inside sales reps can make upwards of $150K.

Cons

Oracle can be a really oppressive and depressing environment for sales people. Oracle has siloed sales teams and no team knows what any other team is doing. Consequently, customers are constantly complaining about the lack of internal communication at Oracle. It's not hard to find an irritated Oracle customer. Inside sales reps only have control of about 50% of their income. The rest of their income is dependent on their field reps to make up the rest of their income. You could be 150% of plan and could make less money than someone who was 50% of plan because their field sold a lot and yours didn't. This can make for some extremely disappointing paychecks.

Pros

Good work-life balance. Exposure to the latest Oracle technologies. Working for one of the leading software companies gives good reputation to an employee. good training ground. a lot of pleasant people doing exciting work;

Cons

Large company prevents career growth. Compensation is lacking. Too much red tape on administrative process (e.g. employee hiring, promotion processing) Difficult for new hires to adjust because of self-service environment. Very Corporate environment. Environment does not promote teamwork, more like everybody is out for himself. Larry looks like a ripped off tony stark.

Pros

I can share my perspectives with respect to product dev org in Oracle India. Donno much about other orgs(some 20 are there...product dev consists of just 1 or 2)There are diverse products/technologies available to work in. They were not really built by oracle but nonetheless it owns it and they all have been best of breed. Lots of developmental/design efforts are continuously going on, which keeps you learning all the time. And that means learning real good stuffs. I work as product dev engineer in Siebel and the work is nice. Compensation is pretty decent. Nobody minds the hours you work at your conveience (you have to work pretty long hours though) , the result is what counts(you have to explain ofcourse in case you take longer than expected..no free lunch there). Overall, I would certainly recommend joining oracle.

Cons

Long hours. IT infrastructure is not very good in Siebel prod dev..not sure about other groups. Somehow, it is recruiting a lot of very avg. engineersfrom private unknown institutions just to ramp up the operations fast, which is not a good thing.
