They paid well but the overall experience did not go as I would have liked

Pros

The pay and the benefits were really good. I got a chance to fly to interesting locations and work with some good people.

Cons

I was at Sun when they bought us and basically ran our unit into the ground. I would recommend anyone who works at Oracle to stay in the areas that are growing as the hardware side took a beating.

Pros

Comp plan for consultants is strong and medical plan options are good. Great access to lots of technology and training. Lots of good folks to work with. Still has world's best RDBMS IMO.

Cons

For consultants hours can be long and travel heavy. Working for unhappy customers (especially when it's a software problem that isn't your fault) can be stressful. Finding time for training or reading the flow of company policies can be difficult a times. Company can be slow react to new trends (e.g. cloud computing) and sales made at the C-Suite level can mean day-to-day users aren't really happy to see you.
