Pros

Overall, my experience as a Product Specialist has been very positive. At the end of the day, this role is what you make it. While the core job consists of being a support person for customers by answering phone calls and emails, there is ample opportunity to grow your skills and take on projects with other departments. In my short time at Qualtrics, I've already been exposed to three different departments for when I am promoted out of the Product Specialist role. This job is designed as a pipeline for the rest of the company; you are an investment for the company. No one knows the product better than us (except the software engineers). You are taught the product and you develop skills to move on to your next role. This is very much seen as a temporary role. I think that it is a great way to get your foot in the door of a rapidly expanding tech company.

Cons

There definitely can be a competitive atmosphere to see who is taking the most tickets. Also, some management can be focused too much on ticket taking and not on special projects and developing the Product Specialists' skill sets. That being said, you get out of the job exactly what you put in--if you just sit on your hands, you won't be engaged and you may have a bad experience because it will seem like all you are doing is taking tickets. However, if you seek out opportunities to grow your skills and branch out of the core job, then I think that it is a very fruitful position. Also, living in Utah is definitely a change of pace for out-of-staters, although I've been relatively happy with my decision to come here. However, I live in Salt Lake City and I don't think I would enjoy living in Provo (which is much more conservative). Pay could definitely be better, but the benefits package is pretty good.
