Remote friendly, seems to care about community, work life balance, good salary and benefits

Cons

February layoffs is a thing at Rackspace, you have been warned! I just lost two DevOps engineers on my team, good friends and hard workers... It seems like Rackspace is going to go through an extreme re-imagining of itself now... No idea what is going to happen and job security is completely gone.

Rackspace is really "Apollo Global Management, LLC"

Pros

None at all. This company was acquired by "Apollo Global Management, LLC" in 2016 and Rackspace is no longer Rackspace. Apollo Global Management, LLC found it in their best interest for monetary gain to keep the name "Rackspace" after the acquisition for current customers and employee retention.

Cons

After the Rackspace acquisition by "Apollo Global Management, LLC", they have started to move U.S. jobs to their new location in Mexico City in a effort to reduce employee benefit costs. This is hurtful to the entire United States and not just the state of TX where the headquarters is located in the city of San Antonio.

Fanatical Support is in trouble

I know a couple folks on the support team and they are some of the most awesome people out there. They really work hard to defend their team's brand that is in trouble right now.

Cons

Even a team made up of awesome people can fail spectacularly if they are not being provided with the support they so desperately need. I have heard that the upper management is only focused on bringing in more customers without taking into consideration whether there are enough people to support them. The team has lost so many people that they are now borrowing people from other teams, including mine, to help with support because the team is so overwhelmed. Keep in mind some of these people have no AWS experience so they're being forced to do jobs they are not even qualified for. I have never seen something get so bad where they have to poach from our own teams. I really feel for them and wish their management would pay attention and do something because they are in a lot of hurt right now.
