Smart women beware

Pros

Good childcare facility, opportunity for travel, in house cafeteria which is need as the office building not in a great location for eating out

Cons

Its not a company that encourages or promotes women. It has a culture that is very 1950's male dominated and they are very proud of that. Politics are nasty and very much based on who you know and if you fit in with the culture. Bullying its both accepted and rewarded. Training and education are not a company value with a bias towards rewarding the" hero" who comes in and through brute strength saves the day rather than valuing those who want to work towards problem prevention and avoidance in a thoughtful manner. Very John Wayne. I have seen a number of smart well educated women leave the company because they are not moving up the ladder. Some have been fired for just not fitting in or for questioning the status quo or proposed action plans. Much of the male management are not well educated and don't appreciate education in others. Especially being told how to do something by a girl. (BTW I am a male so this is not just another girl being a cry baby) Its not a place for any smart, educated and ambitious women to progress in their career

Pros

Corporate head office is located in Burnaby, BC and provides on site day care, a gym and free parking. Standard benefits package provided. The company is already successful and established in it's industry and does not need to work hard to be lucrative, it generates revenue year round and year over year consistently.

Cons

No pension plan. Non union. No job security. Buddy system and dishonest management supersedes ethical employment practices which in turn creates a toxic work environment to include discrimination, work place bullying and harassment.

Pros

You meet a lot of great people in the company and customers. Customers are great and they keep me coming back everyday with their appreciation for what I do.

Cons

The “family” feel that all of our customers grew to love and enjoy is GONE! The new CEO has stripped that away and no one has a name here anymore, we are all just dollar signs in the way of his giant bonus he will get next year when his services are done. Our customers feel it, they have spoken out and the company has done nothing to ease them. They expect you to “bleed orange” as an employee, however when it benefits the financials of the company, they treat you like you didn’t bleed a day of orange here! It’s not fair, not good practice and really shows their value on customer service since they don’t value their own employee’s doing the footwork for all these customers. Their share holders are everything, if you aren’t one, you mean nothing.... even if you have upheld ALL of the values of the company as an orange bleeding employee.
