Pros

Gets your foot in the door. Ok pay and benefits. Paid vacation.

Cons

Incompetent people and management. They play favourites and treat competent workers like crap! Little room for promotion, unless you are prepared to grovel and bow to the master/mistress. They knock you down if you show progess. There are many people there with nasty attitudes there. If you defend yourself, you are blamed. Mid-Management lies about you any and every chance they get, if they are threatened by your progress. You are confronted and accused of things you did not do, HR does ask questions, they only listen to the manager-then act as judge, jury and executioner. People are rewarded for knocking down other people, teamwork is lipservice, just another useless piece of corporate jargon.

Pros

It's a big bank with lots of reach and resources. The products are quite good and the corporate environment is good as far as equality, inclusivity, and fairness. The pay is competitive and the benefits are good.

Cons

The technology is laughably primitive compared to other big banks. They should be much further ahead than they are. The systems feel very patched together and confusing. There is a lot of sales pressure -- they say the emphasis is on financial advice, but you are required to focus on number of calls, number of appointments, sales of products, and gathering external business rather than focusing on what the customer needs and wants. This can cause customers to feel pressured as well as we are coached to constantly try to get them to move all their business. It's hard to accomplish goals when it takes 30-45 minutes to find the proper procedure to solve a problem, or nobody knows how to fix something and they just say "well, keep calling in until you find someone who knows." They still expect you to have the same amount of calls, appointments, and sales even if you spend a few hours trying to fix something for a client, which doesn't generate any sales results.

Pros

Competant and pleasant employees for the most part

Cons

-light years behind peers in terms of technology -approx. 20-25% below peers in terms of salary -lack of focus on promoting internal candidates -out dated concept of time in post (minimum required time to stay in a certain role before moving to another role) -lack of clearly defined role objectives -lack of a respectable internal recognition system. Employees get recognized over others on the basis of what often seems like favoritism since no reason is given as to why they won a recognition award -not willing to provide compensation for professional development items unless you fight (took 2 months of fighting to get my professional development fees reimbursed)
