Great benefits, company culture and a lot of potential to grow

Pros

ShopRunner is an excellent company to work for. The HR/People team is thoughtful, thorough and caring. Company values and culture play a big role in hiring decisions and overall strategy. I truly feel like if I have an issue I can go to my manager or someone in the leadership sphere and I will be heard--and I never fear retaliation. Very inclusive and welcoming to all people, who just want to do their best work every day. The office is beautiful, free lunches once a week, free breakfasts 2x a month, plus social opportunities after hours. It's like a startup for grown ups.

Cons

Ambitious strategy that can sometimes feel fast-paced for some, multiple offices, which means a lot of video meetings.

On the decline

Pros

WFH, free food, nice people

Cons

The company is on a noticeable decline. New products are weak and not well defined. Many inexperienced leaders who do not collaborate with each other. They are all over the place. Attrition is terrible with many good employees are leaving on an ongoing basis. Any good reviews that are 4 star plus are from prior to 2018. That kind of tells you what's happening.

We're sorry (and, sad, TBH) to hear that you had a negative experience. We have launched many new products over the last two years as the company continues to transform. Although our attrition remains below industry standard, we continue to do quarterly pulse surveys to get closer to the right dynamics needed for our employees and our business. We wish you the best in your next chapter.

Broken promises

Pros

Some nice people. Large hiring class brought lots of energy. Flexibility in terms of working arrangements.

Cons

Leadership struggles with being honest. It seems like a lot of the people in charge have never done their jobs before. This may be why there is high attrition. In general there is confusion about the direction and strategy. It almost seems as if there isn't any.... but there is plenty of blame to go around. Engineering leadership especially is political and defensive. HR may mean well but a lot of what they say seems hollow. What happened to design?

We are so sorry ShopRunner wasn't a long-term fit for you. We pride ourselves on a high level of integrity with a leadership team that has varied and diversified experiences. Design is currently doing well after some growing pains and the search for a new head of design is in final stretches. We hope you saw value in the policies and in the ways we worked. And are working to support all employees, including managers, as we scale. We are building a company we're really proud of and, as part of that, we really value feedback. In that spirit, we say thank you for sharing your perspective. And thank you for your contributions in the time you spent with us.
