Pros

1. Strong, intelligent people across the board. You get to work with a global network of very good people, particularly in technical capacities. 2. Good work-life balances

Cons

1. Inertia—SoftServe has its roots in tech and engineering services. There is resistance to advancing into disciplines outside of those. Digital platforms and actual business/functional acumen to support the drivers that move tech are neglected —it is tech for tech's sake. 2. Leadership—the leadership blows. SoftServe is privately held, and the organization can do what it wants. However, the founders appear to be hands-off, while internal power struggles at the highest level force significant layoffs across many segments. 3. "People" initiatives that foster community are geared toward people in fixed offices, particularly in Europe. Resources in the States are basically on their own. There don't appear to be many things for remote workers that foster connectedness with the rest of the organization. Other companies I have worked with do this much better.

Pros

There are some great people there who have great capabilities. Due to the great experience showcased, I was able to have better conversations with clients for more opportunity.

Cons

Some leadership is good. Some Key Leadership really do not care about people. It's Shocking. Poor communication, and utilizes fear to motivate. Doesn't seem to care that no one thinks you clearly articulate much of anything. As well, is so insecure won't listen to feedback and the Experts you hired to do well. Poor understanding of what's happening, not listening, and not clearly helping. (Orders to perform or else, is not leading.)

Thanks for sharing your feedback and acknowledging that we have some GREAT people, we would agree! As it relates to the Cons/Advice you have shared, we also recognize that there may be some who would benefit from additional leadership training and coaching. The development of a great leader happens over time and through the company’s continued dedication to training and our core values. We agree there is always room for feedback and improvement. This feedback comes from several proactive sources; direct managers and/or HR are involved in the feedback to ensure not only awareness but also development of our team leaders. Our culture is extremely important and as such, there has been an ongoing concerted focus as we explore the power of living our values through various methods. It’s a CEO mandate, (you probably saw this direct from him) – our values aren’t just words on paper, they shape who we are, how we act and drive our success both as a company and individually. Our headcount in the US is relatively small and while we are not required to provide severance packages, we strive to be transparent about our practices and amicably separate when we are faced with a situation warranting termination. The decision to separate an associate is only taken after careful evaluation by the leader and HR and while this may be disappointing, we do value the contributions made by all our associates during their time at SoftServe.
