Starbucks Corporate HR, Finance

Pros

It's a pleasant corporate environment for the most part and a very socially responsible as well as profitable and still growing company

Cons

Company wide aversion to anything but sunny optimism: This is a company that prides itself on the cheeriness of its store partners. Unfortunately, this Starbucks work culture in HQ, at least, leads to serious errors in long term planning. The environment also encourages strongly discriminatory behavior on the basis of personality type/health condition/life circumstances. This particular flaw of the Starbucks work culture is unfortunately pervasive in my former department.

Pros

Great work life balance. Strong commitment to community service, although it's not as strong as it was a few years ago.

Cons

Low morale (2017) and high employee turnover. Lots of organizational changes and new additions to senior leadership. Employees aren't given ownership over their work. The organization is very top heavy.

Pros

The benefits start being offered immediately, even at part time (20 hours). ASU reimbursement coworkers some friendly regulars stock paid time off

Cons

Low pay isn't always enough to pay the bills some customers can really suck bad scheduling can make for really rough shifts corporate decides when to cut labor, even if we desperately need more people causing understaffing that makes the experience worse for all involved.
