Pros

Just about everything. Starbucks was the best and by far I mean the best employer I've ever had. I loved not only the company mission, purpose, goals and product but they had a culture within which was unique. Being at the headquarters truly was special in every way - from Howard Schultz open forums to mini espresso stations all over the building. You felt like you were part of something exciting no matter what level you were in the organization and coming to work was actually "fun".

Cons

Long hours but you were so bought into the culture so that you were happy to do it. Decisions were collaborative thus often difficult to put into approved action. Newer leadership has less of the old culture and is lacking in people focus and "heart". Starbucks is starting to be like every other company now and it is sad to watch.

Pros

What I liked was it was located in an airport so i got to meet lots of different people to ask people in other job fields what it was like if the recommended it, salary, and schedule. I got to meet fellow employees and make friends, the interaction with customers is great most are very nice and cheerful, but very strict about the way you make their drinks. Tips aren´t the best out there but they do come in handy for gas and such. Managers are pretty liberal with employees letting them handle the business unless things get out of hand

Cons

Managers really dont get employees in my personal experience they didn´t care much for customers either. when suggestions and coments are handed to them they dont fix the problem. The hours you have to work are crazy it gets in the way of your personal life because weekends are almost obligation. Some customers are very poor in the way they treat you because they want their drink perfect, fast, and with a smile on your face, it is not so easy at times. Working at a Starbucks in the airport passing through security every day starts to get annoying. Parking is difficult as well

Pros

Starbucks was a great place to work for many years. You were really treated as a business owner and could make decisions for your store based on your partners, customers, and business. There was a framework, of course, but within it the store managers were generally left to run their businesses. You were held accountable for your P&L results. Successful managers were rewarded with high payouts on their bonuses. Unsuccessful managers were coached by their District Managers in an effort to improve performance. Starbucks truely lived by the Mission Statement and Guiding Principles and Store Managers based their daily decisions on them.

Cons

Over the past year the leadership team at Starbucks completely changed its style to micromanagement. Results no longer mattered. The leadership was more concerned about if you acheived their goals the exact way that they laid out for you to meet them. Promotional goals became a strict focus even if it meant driving down average transactions. So, for instance, instead of suggestively selling an item that we genuinely thought our customer (Joe) might like today based on what he ordered and what we know about him, we were made to force the same products on our customers everyday in order to meet one specific goal. Essentially we were no longer allowed to think for ourselves and those who questioned it were weeded out.
