Pros

Good work/life balance, free coffee

Cons

People are constantly talking bad about each other behind their backs, half of management is incompetent-where else would a barista become a technical VP and survive?, the ones that are competant end up doing the work of the other half that should still be baristas but got promoted to technical roles, cut workers who are good and a value to company so their "friends" can stay, not good CI/CD infrastructure in place for any regularity in deployments--constant push-back on project dates

Pros

Tips Regular Customers Challenging Workplace Lot's of fun with good team-mates

Cons

Controller Shift-Supervisors High turnover Needy Customers Company that wastes 85k in food in my district alone refuses to put code/key locks on restroom doors. We have vagrants who destroy them daily, leaving behind uncapped syringes, crap on the floor, etc. Then us employees & customers get to deal with it :)

Pros

Amazing benefits, great learning opportunity as it has a very team oriented atmosphere. Perfect for a college student for some extra cash money. They really do try to treat you well in many aspects, with things like a free mark-out meal per shift, vacation hours, stock, free beans each week, free drinks, etc. Not to mention all the life experience you get talking with customers and coworkers throughout your shift. All this is offered to someone who often has no previous work experience!

Cons

Buuuut there's more. I love the company, but every time I visit as a former barista, I breathe a sigh of relief that I'll never work another shift there. It's a mentally and physically taxing job. You talk to people all day, which has its upside, but also can be exhausting. You're standing all day, often making drinks close to the speed of light, which often gives you a back ache by the end of your shift. Store managers are notoriously micro-managers, while simultaneously scheduling you out of your availability. But hey, it's a college job for inexperienced workers, and someone's gotta do it. I would strongly recommend working here, but you may want to keep it to two years so you don't get jaded and arthritic.
