Pros

Hard working and passionate employees many of whom put in more than 100 hrs a week off the record.

Cons

A management who not only deceives their customers but the employees as well. Truly a testament of modern day slavery, you will be fired for going on an approved vacation, right at the airport. It doesnt matter even if you worked with them for three quarters of a decade or you just got slogged for 100 hours for two continuous weeks or you were asked to postpone your vacation to facilitate the onboarding of their new client. If you have an important role in the team, you aren't allowed to go on vacation. That was the case of an employee who was terminated right at the airport checkin. The manager who approved his vacation was also let go as soon as he returned from his own vacation. While vacation may have been only an excuse because, this employee brought forward all the violations to the management - right from ITAR work being performed by non-ITAR resources, SLA violations involving lack of DR setup for all their big clients, log tamering ahead of audits, Software license violations worth millions and 50% of all their infrastructure being more than a decade old and out of support. As far employee work environment is concerned this is a slave house. One technical resource would do the work of 3-4 technical resources in an average technical firm. While the parent venture capital firm is on a buying spree to build the largest private cloud, the practices of deception will simply continue. No wonder why they bid so cheap and manage to suck away customers from bigger cloud hosting providers.

Pros

Iiiiish. Very very hard to think of any.

Cons

I left a few months ago and things are getting worst every day. In the last 2 years at least 4 V-P’s have left (obviously the best ones have left and have been replaced by terrible one because the majority shareholder Novacap is looking for « yes men » managers) You WILL be overworked You WILL be grossly underpaid Novacap plan is very clear (and even communcated to everyone): they are there for the short term, not to build something sustainable. As a result employees become Novacap’s slave. When they cannot take it anymore leave and are replaced by new slave to keep things as lean as possible. If you want to make Novacap rich at the expense of your own health and sanity: this is the place to be. Oh! And the worst culture and work ambiance I have ever seen.

First, I would like to apologize for my tardy reply. I want to thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I am really sorry that your experience at Syntax did not match our intention of being a positive working environment. We have been successfully operating our business for over 40 years and our partnership with Novacap has allowed us to further expand our wings in the technology echo system. Novacap has been a fantastic partner to Syntax, they have helped us grow via three acquisitions and they continue to support our initiatives. We are taking your feedback seriously and will address internally with our management team. If you would like to share more about your experiences please contact me by emailing nbenoit@syntax.com so that we can set up a time to talk. Thank you again for the feedback. It helps us make Syntax a better place and best of luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

Global Flex and the legacy people.

Cons

The work environment at Syntax Marketing has unfortunately become highly detrimental. The recent introduction of new leadership has resulted in the hiring of her previous colleagues, leading to a sense of fear and apprehension among the existing employees who are now hesitant to express their opinions for fear of reprisal. Regrettably, there is a conspicuous absence of clear direction in terms of roles and responsibilities, despite numerous attempts during team calls to seek clarification. The department has been plagued by an excessive level of micromanagement, intimidation, and overall incompetence. Furthermore, the company's leadership recently distributed a survey to address these concerns, but unfortunately, no substantial actions have been taken to address and rectify the situation. Disturbingly, the new leadership actively participates in engaging in gossip about both the longstanding employees and amongst themselves. Considering the prevailing toxic culture, it is strongly advised to exercise caution and refrain from engaging with Syntax Marketing unless one has a propensity for and is comfortable within such a toxic environment.
