Pros

Because there are so many different departments and teams you have freedom to use tooling relevant to your team.

Cons

Upper management has no clue what is going on internally. They make decisions without understanding technical impacts and when told they ignore concerns.

Pros

There are some good niches if you are lucky enough to land in one.

Cons

In the years I worked at T-Mobile’s US headquarters in Seattle, I found a prevailing ethic of opportunism and survival of the most aggressive. Managers feel free to trespass over what would be bounds in more mature organizations. Coordination and control are fractured, so you can be viewed as valuable one moment and as redundant the next. I have to think that the German parent treats its good German citizens much better than the US satellite treats Americans. Whether you seek a service provider, an investment or a job, do yourself a favor and seek it elsewhere in the industry.

Pros

It's an inclusive work environment. Lots of decent people. I've made a lot of friends here. And while it depends on your manager and role, there's definitely opportunity to leave your lane and make an impact. There's typical big company politics and silos, but they're often navigable. Pretty good paid-time-off policy, especially for a big company.

Cons

The work environment is miserable and is essentially what I imagine a prison cafeteria to be like. Think of a big concrete box, very open, with 100's of desks lined up in row after row after row. No dividers, nothing to dampen sound, no "concentration rooms" to escape to, no common space to go have a personal conversation... if you need to think, or do real work that requires concentration, you'll have to take it home and do it there after hours. It's really bad. There's also no green space, parking is hard to find, bathrooms are overcrowded, there are no standing desks, and the coffee is undrinkable. But... if you like lots of rah-rah speeches from management about how great things are while you're suffering through the work day, this is definitely the place to be.
