Pros

TI invests in employees - there are multiple chances for training and movement within the organization. You will work for very smart people, for the most part. I miss working with engineers who are business-savvy. Lots of opportunities to work on a variety of projects that are meaningful to the company. The people who work there are genuinely GOOD people!

Cons

Old-school company with stale work environment. Many of the systems (especially for the web) are incredibly out-of-date and antiquated, especially for a tech company. Marketing there can be old-fashioned and behind-the-times. TI is changing the world with their technology but the atmosphere in which you work in is extremely dry.

Pros

Opportunity to work with highly skilled engineers. Sincere and motivated work environment. Sufficient technical infrastructure to test and debug hardware related issues.

Cons

As a software/firmware engineer you are worthless. For TI, software is just something to be written in the air, and pure cost. Main focus of this company is to reduce cost of existing products, that means if you are working on a project which requires research and development you are on the gun. You may end up with lay-off even you are a top performer. Never ever use the word "Research" in your sentences. In brief TI is not an engineering company, it just driven by sales person without adhering any engineering skills.

Pros

Great rotation, training programs for new hires. Many opportunities to meet upper management. Good work environment and culture. I appreciate the support / highlighting of off-hours work using company products (i.e. "DIY with TI day").

Cons

Training and approval for conference attendance has dropped off in the last 10 years. Company is less focused on experienced engineers.

Pros

The culture at TI is awesome. The environment is laid back and the people you get to work with are always willing to help out when needed. The benefits package is also great. Strongly encouraged to move laterally or horizontally within the company depending on your preference. Work flexibility and ability to maintain work/life balance are very appealing.

Cons

From a technology standpoint as a software engineer, you won't be working on anything considered 'cutting-edge'. The work is very interesting and challenging but the software used to do it isn't the latest and greatest.

Pros

Excellent place to work. Flexible hours where possible, good ethical & safe work environment. Worked here for the last 11 years

Cons

Only major semiconductor company in the DFW area. DFW is an area that does not seem to focus on public transport - TI supports a lot of options for transit but for many job roles self transit is the only feasible option which means one may have to drive 30~456 minutes to work.
