Pros

huge feeling of gratitude to be at a place that is making a difference & changing the lives of so many lgbtq+ kids. also huge gratitude to be at a place that is still growing and has stability despite covid and the recession. some of the best folx i have ever met work here and i am learning a lot.

Cons

i get a lot of energy from being around people so its been tough to work from home. i know people ops is doing everything they can to give us resources and tips. and i appreciate that a lot. but its not the same as being in the same place together. i miss everyone so much!

Great mission, but failed delivery

Pros

- Flexibility with remote environment - Most low, mid-level management genuinely cares about the well being of their direct reports - Doing impactful youth focused work is rewarding

Cons

- Executives and upper level management are under qualified and don’t deliver to their promises - The CEO was so far removed from the day to day operations within the organization - None of us are paid equitably for the mentally and physically challenging work we do - Unsafe working conditions for crisis workers and BIPOC and trans/non-binary staff across the org - This is not a safe space for the LGBTQ community - Rainbow Capitalism

Pros

From peers to upper management, everyone seems to be extremely passionate and dedicated to the mission and vision. There are always opportunities to expand horizons and learn something new. Professional development opportunities are basically boundless, so long as initiative for growth is demonstrated. Can't think of a better place to call work.

Cons

The nature of the work is incredibly stressful and depressing at times. Trevor offers spaces to unpack the day to day challenges, but it's important to keep in mind that crisis management requires an ability to stay calm and focused through difficult subject matter. Also, as things are all virtual at the moment, the work can feel detached and lonely. Take care of yourself.
