Pros

Pay and benefits are better than most in our area. Proud tradition of helping the community, making me proud to work here. Lot of good people to work with; enjoy coming to work most days.

Cons

Pay variabilities between associates - it's not what you know, it's who you know. Some associates (mid-level and management) seem to be on the fast track - regardless of what they know. Many associates get the "basic" benefits package, but the "chosen ones" get extra vacation and signing and/or retention bonuses. Recent layoffs were questionable; there is still a lot of dead weight here and they laid off some of the best people we had. Even laid off our safety person, then had to bring in a retiree when they realized no one else could do the job. Who thought of that cost savings?

Pros

My internship with Timken was a very good experience and I would definitely recommend it to other engineering students. The pay was was great and anything over 40 hours was time and a half overtime. Great people and an all around good place to work.

Cons

Getting management to make decisions can be very difficult. This can be frustrating when projects build up because implementation is so slow.

Pros

The pay was very competitive.

Cons

It seemed like everyone wanted to be better than everyone else. People weren't likely to get help with something because they wanted to get all the credit. Once, someone even took my project idea and passed it off as their own. To the company's credit, this person is no longer working there. However, the company was not reasonable with staff member's responsibilities outside of work.
