Pros

Work from home options. That’s about it.

Cons

Very cheap company. They took away our salary increases last year for Covid. They did not give us ANY office supplies to work from home. Promotions are very slow (if you are a person of color). Very bureaucratic. Middle Management doesn’t know how to develop employees. They will give you negative performance reviews to keep their budgets low.

Pros

Loved my fellow co-workers in Princeton. They worked very hard on weekends, holidays and during off-times with their families.

Cons

UL Corporate, IT division especially, is trying to downplay the US FDA requirements on Quality Systems. The SaaS Learning Management System organization in Princeton, NJ is deemed a quality system as is used by 100s of pharma and medical device companies for that reason. As part of the quality team, one of only 2 that had life science industry experience, were driven out of UL by the ill-informed , quality lacking bullies in UL Corporate. Notice all the good reviews of UL are from HQ in Northbrook. If you are not in Northbrook, IL and work for UL you will not be singing high praises for UL. Employees in Princeton are told to do more with less resources and without the backing of leadership team. Many managers with reports in Princeton are often traveling to India or China but do very little to get more business. That is a waste of time and money.

UL is fully committed to the quality and compliance of their software solutions. All systems requiring compliance to industry regulations like 21 CFR Part 11 or EU Annex 11 are meticulously controlled for the quality and compliance of the design, development and quality assurance processes. The systems are routinely audited by third parties and clients with consistently outstanding results. We are extremely proud of our people, our processes and our technology and always encourage our clients to come audit us and see this for themselves… they always leave impressed!

Pros

There are some genuinely excellent people to work with. Aside from vacation, the benefits are pretty solid. If you are good at saying "no" or haven't established competency in your group's standard categories , you can achieve a reasonable work/life balance.

Cons

It's pretty clear to see upper management is looking to cash out by going public. Which translates to demanding from the top down to drive revenue, and profit margins above all else. Definitely, a crack the whip and work harder environment. If you are OT exempt, expect to constantly be asked to take on extra work and erode away your freetime. Vacation doesn't really exist here, it's more like comp. time, as you'll work close to 80 hours the week before and likely at least 60 after. Though you have some great people to work with, don't expect morale to be very high. Training is really dependent on whoever they sucker in to be your trainer/mentor. They rarely take any load off the mentor, so it creates an unfair burden on them to train you on top of all their other responsibilities. From what I hear, they used to have a good training process that ended back in 2013. Note: this does vary from group to group , but if you're in a revenue generating this seems to be the norm. Some of the none revenue seeking departments seem to enjoy their roles and atmosphere.
