Pros

Decent pay and bonuses. (but once you've lasted about 10 years, you have to take a hit to leave) Decent health care plans and HSA matching Recently adjusted their work at home and maternity/paternity policies, very generous.

Cons

Upper management talks a good talk, likes ribbon cutting and publicity when counterfeit products are found, but mainly focus figuring out how to continue restructure into a public company and cash out. Most middle management knows nothing about the products and industries they serve. Very top heavy. Maybe a 5-1 or 4-1 ratio of employees who actually support product certification and other revenue generating activities, armies of project managers, consultants, trainers, middle managers. Likes to talk about "one UL", but as soon as talk goes to resources or planning, it's "not my job" or "not out of my budget"

Pros

Good learning experience notably in areas related to my specialty.

Cons

Salary inequity is a huge problem there. Very poor teamwork and management only makes thinly veiled attempts at improvement but appears to be satisfied with constantly declining employee feedback reports. This company also enforces pay rate ranks. Information they hide until one reached their upper limit then regardless of performance rating cannot get compensation increases and are then told that it is virtually impossible to have their pay rate classification upgraded. Mid level and upper management also turn a blind eye to some poor performers and problematic staff and the reasoning appears inexplicable to the rank and file.

Pros

Honestly the only positive thing that comes to mind is the benefits were decent.

Cons

This company loses market share on a daily basis. The culture is depressing, comp plan is insulting, and the managers (that I personally worked with) had no prior sales experience. Every team conference call meant muting your phone and surfing the web for an hour while your managers gave Dale Carnegie pep talks. Every decent idea the company had, was taken from what their competitor was already doing.
