Avoid at all costs

Pros

Team members at the same level as you

Cons

Avoid at all costs. In the last 2 years, they’ve gone through 2 HUGE rounds of re-org, causing lots of people to be laid off. Basically just know that every time a Senior manager or above management executive is hired, the answer to all their problems seems to be a re-org (they just want to show that change = good but that couldn’t be further from what actually happened) Rather than listening to employees, 4-5 people meet and decide what the best operating model is. Constant re-org & layoffs have really hurt this company. I would be cautious. It’s a good place to start your career but be prepared for things like this to be regular. Very unpredictable company. Avoid.

UL Solutions Response

UL Solutions grew from a not-for-profit entity to a for-profit entity in 2012. For the last decade we have made a massive transition towards being a for-profit entity and aligning the business to support this growth. We want to change thoughtfully and bring more perspectives into those decisions. Thank you for this feedback.

I'd rather use an Unlisted toaster in the shower than work here

Pros

The people and mission are great

Cons

Leadership and strategic direction is amateurish. CEO won't retire, he spends maybe 2 days a month in the office. CFO won't cut costs in his own department, yet all other departments are cut to the bone. The only deliverable is a calendar full of meetings to talk about stuff that isn't getting done. Company runs hundreds of major projects at the same time with no clear focus or leadership.

C-Suite needs a C-Section

Pros

Going home at the end of each workday is the only benefit to working here. No leadership at the top. CEO distracted by all things Golf. C-Suite completely inept and dysfunctional. And they don't listen to advice from underlings.

Cons

Golf. Golf. Golf. All areas are cutting costs, while the company spends millions to sponsor female golf events. The only thing that female golf and safety testing have in common is millions of dollars. And now we have to beg to purchase pens and paper clips, and we are subjected to daily golf propaganda on our internal home page portal. We have become a golf company.
