Pros

They are in the top 5% of pay for your profession. I made around $45,000-$49,000 by 2 and 1/2 years working there. Even the customer service reps made good money. average around $27,000 starting to about $47,000. Plus yearly bonuses and other incentives. Great benefits that pay 100% for in network coverage with little copay. You get 50% off monthly plan on your phones and yearly upgrades. You can us your vacation from the first day you start but then you start out at negative and all the vacation you get just replenishes that amount. Benefits also start from day 1. If you are a customer facing employee you get 1 company paid line for free but it's for business use only. Probably one of the best companies to work for when it comes to retail as far as money and benefits but I think I would've enjoyed working at T-mobile or AT&T more. I have a feeling you have less pressure and politics but I could be wrong.

Cons

The worst part about working in a Verizon Wireless location is that you have to stand for more than 8 hours a day. I have now suffered and continue to suffer what is call "Plantar Fasciaitis" or something like that. Basically my feet are killing me after standing for a few minutes now. Unless you're a busy store you don't do a whole lot of walking, but mainly standing at your terminal doing trainings and or reading emails etc. Very bad on the feet and knees. They will not allow sitting. They say you should have a consultant like attitude but yet won't give you what consultants usually have which is a desk and chairs. The other bad thing is you have to call customers to either "save" them money by SELLING them more things or just offer promotions and stuff. And we all know how much we hate telemarketers.

Pros

Verizon is a company that strives to remain competitive through the development of new and emerging technologies in personal and business communications as well as entertainment services. There is enormous potential for personal, professional growth in a company of this size. They offer training opportunities and financial assistance to obtain a degree in areas related to the business. Persons with a engineering or technical background (computer science, information systems, cable TV, telecommunications) and/or sales, finance, or marketing experience will find a great fit in this company.

Cons

The industry in which this corporation competes is highly competitive, which places a great demand on the ability of the employees to be flexible and responsive to constant changes in the environment and the technology that drives the business forward. You must be willing to compromise stability and long-term focus at times in order to survive and thrive. Like all businesses the bottom line and doing what is best for the investors is what drives business decisions more often than what is in the best interest of the employees. The challenge for employees should be to prioritize developing and perfecting their list of transferable skills rather than focusing on a specialized area. Certain products or services could quickly fall out of favor and be eliminated or have it's budget minimized beyond what is needed to truly function at a high-level.

Pros

The advancement ability at VZW is all about where you want to go. There is a career path for nearly anything you would want to do. The career progression plan is well laid out and provides a solid knowledbe base for advancement. The company provides $8k annually for tuition program, 100% match on the first 6% we contribute to the fantastic 401k plan, we have backup care options, we have ample time off to manage for our needs. The employee phone program is a real plus, and what we pay for our health care premiums is awesome. We also have annual profit sharing, and an annual bonus we get based on our performance and the company performance. It can be up to 8% of my base pay for my position! There are so many positive things about this company and where I can go, it is hands down the best employer I have ever had. The performance based culture lets me define my future.

Cons

While I do have to work hard, come to work when I am scheduled, and stick to my lunch/break times when working at VZW, I do not think that those expectations are out of line.
