Pros

Good benefits. Opportunities to increase technical acumen

Cons

Dated corporate sales culture stuck in 80's 90's. Lack of strong strategic focus with Product Development teams developing products that are not 100% proven prior to release. Too many products. Capped commission structure. Punitive reward system for exceeding quota Matrix leadership ineffective. Very difficult to get promoted. Most positions are posted to satisfy EEOC requirements. Many sales opportunity roles awarded to friends of sales managers. HR has been minimized by senior leadership.

Pros

Great products/solutions Great hard working people Excellent benefits Flexibility to work from home in some groups

Cons

Be careful if you are working in sales. Some groups manage by fear, threats, lies, and upper management will cover for bad middle management hirers to cover up their bad choices. HR and the ethics group aren’t helpful since they are only concerned about protecting the company. Some sales groups are tech boiler rooms. Taking vacation or even lunch is often challenging. Quotas are too high in most sales verticals. Management on many occasions will over commit sales and then lecture and threaten individuals when they don’t make commits due to management over committing them. Management isn’t always ethical. Process is awful. Sales is often chained to their computers to complete difficult processes. To many jobs are outsourced which in most cases produces a terrible outcome for both the customers and sales. Sales often has to clean up issues after mistakes have been made. Resources are often over-worked which can lead to negativity when trying to get pricing, legal and implementation.
