Pros
VZ was the market king in the 2000’s, having the best network and endless supply of customers. As the market became more competitive, the c-suite put its utility company mentality and limitstions on full display in an attempt to rebrand as a tech company. A series of terrible decisions, purchases (Yahoo, anyone), etc sent everything into a tailspin. I was one of the lucky ones to parachute out during the buyout.
Cons
The company lost many excellent potential leaders during the buyout because the VP refused to provide opportunity for the next level to move up. She kept all the original leaders and basically, they’d have to die for one of us to get promoted. So we all left. It was a great place to work until it wasn’t.
