walmart promotes from within the ranks of their own employees if you have the desire to succeed

Cons

at times management can favor their favorite employees instead of helping others that are struggling

Pros

Very easy work and easy to move into hourly management. Very friendly customers for the most part. Bonuses and discounts are very nice to have if you buy a lot of non-essential items such as movies and junk food. You get to know a lot of different people while working with walmart. Once you have been there for a year you do get paid holidays and vacation but every company should provide this. Employee stock purchase is pretty nice as walmart is a nice stock to own.

Cons

Very low compensation and extremely hard to move into a salaried position. Watching activities that take place which you feel are not in the best interest for the company. Inflexible scheduling and excruciatingly hard to get time off when you want it. Wacky scheduling also causes some headaches if you have open availability (working until 10 p.m. then coming in at 7 a.m. the next day.) Trying to get answers from salaried members of management about practices that are being done by walmart can be frustrating. Not being able to buy black friday merchandise because you are working the day of.

Pros

Great company ... they take care of the people who take care of the company. If you want the opportunity to grow and you exhibit the right kind of leadership you can go as far as your personal capacity will take you. The overall benefits package is incredible in my opinion. You are able to get medical insurance for your family for as little as fifteen dollars a month. As you grow you can make as much as your ability will allow. There are many entry level positions but you can get promoted quickly!

Cons

You "work" during all the holidays. It's becomes challenging at points during the holidays because that's when we do our business.
