Pros

Wal Mart is one of the companies that have been successful through the economic crisis. Their stock price has held its ground against similar companies such as Target, which actually lost 30% of value. Walmart provides an employee discount of 10% which can add up over a year.

Cons

Wal-Mart does so much business that I do not feel like I get to know my patients like I have in lower volume stores. As in any pharmacy, it is especially important for the tech help to show up at work promptly at Wal-Mart. It can be crippling if techs are late.

Pros

If you need a job Wal-Mart is normally always hiring.

Cons

WalMart does not believe in training. No matter your pay grade. My training came from asking others and messing up. Also just because your hired on doesn't mean your going to be working. People with full time are getting 30hrs a week. Part timers are getting 10 hours a week. But the work load is the same throughout the store. If you can't get the same amount of the job done despite half the work force not getting to come in then you'll just be coached for job performance. Its happen to me twice. Both written and verbal. Its why I dropped my management position and went back to a sales associate. $8.45 a hour wasn't worth trying to do 3 other people's labor, get my butt chewed all the time, and come home just ready to fall asleep and not wake up.

Pros

Job security, even when the economy is bad we still make sales. An other bonus is the interaction with customers who understand we are all human and can only do what humanly possible, they are usually "regulars" who see you as a person not a servant. Teamwork, when it happens is a wonderful thing, we get a lot more done when we work together on projects and upper management is involved. The best part is friendships, we are one family and this is encouraged by upper management, it is easier to work at a place when you like the people you work with. Open door policy!

Cons

At times there is a lack of co-operation among co-workers. This usually happens when upper management does not get involved with the day to day work requirements of the associates. Leadership is sometimes lacking and can lead to one associate being overwhelmed with work while others stand around with nothing to do. This creates tension among associate and bad feels. Constant demand of unrealistic customers. Physical stress on your body. Lack of communication among upper management can lead to do overs and waist time and payroll. Extra responsibilities do not come with a pay raise, ie. support team and safety team so it is hard to get associates to take on the extra work need to make the store run well.
