Pros

Some great people. Steady amount of work. Somewhat flexible work hours.

Cons

Most of the work is not challenging. No room for advancement within the company. Strong culture of Nepotism. Fractured management (old HG guys vs new WP guys). Extremely weak and unresponsive middle management. Employee requests fall on deaf ears.

Pros

Like all companies, you have the opportunity to work with some fabulous people

Cons

WorleyParsons is a boys club and bad behaviour is regularly rewarded. The company lacks vision, leadership and discipline - especially in the Perth office. It sells itself as a global company, but this is not true. It is a company that has many offices in different countries around the world. Each office operates like a silo within a company, and a silo within a location. Communication within the Perth location is poor. The company’s systems are cumbersome and complex, and they offer little, or no training, especially if you are a non-billable employee. The employee surveys are consistently negative and yet little is done to address the issues raised by staff. There are many legacy staff (men) who the company refuses to performance manage. Instead, they move them ‘sideways’ and leave them on inappropriate salaries. If you have any level of 'care' factor, i.e. you care about small providers or contractors being paid in a timely manner, then don't work for this company, because their incompetence will drive you insane. Lastly, if your role involves travel, think very carefully before joining this company. All international travel is ‘Premium Economy' and believe me, it’s a long way from Perth to Houston flying PE.

Sad to watch it play out when so much potential goes begging

Pros

Strong systems in place for standard large project execution, good (to great) packages offered to encourage personnel to join and stay, potential for lots of resources available to help when required (if the budget allows for them!), strong opportunities for mobility within the business if projects require it. Great focus on safety of personnel.

Cons

Somewhere between top-level corporate management and the execution of day-to-day business, all vestiges of any strong corporate vision are lost. Because of the multiple overlapping/interacting business sectors and the multiple levels of associated management, often it is not clear who is actually responsible to act for the business and get the job done. Multiple examples of business being lost or poorly executed because too few personnel, senior or otherwise, took ownership of even their own "bit". Those that do, often appear frustrated by the company structure and a corporate culture not rewarding of innovation, courage, or ingenuity.
