Pros

So far, steady work for the Customer Service Engineer (copier technician). Flexibility when time off needed. Good vacation benefit. Company car program good. Generally a friendly place to work. Can't think of any other positive things about this company.

Cons

Used to be a great company to work for, with great pay and benefits, nice recognition programs (trips for top performers) and promotions to management from the lower ranks. Over the past 30 years, pay raises have dropped from a ceiling of 6% to 0-2%; no pay raises in two years, and not likely to be one in 2010. Benefits are constantly being cut: no more 401K matching, life insurance cut in half, tuition reimbursement cut, increased employee "contribution" to health care costs, reduced health care choices (down to 2), no recognition past a pat on the back. Many technicians want to leave; fourth "early out" package just offered, with reduced benefits and an announcement of reduced benefits later on future packages (message: you better take this one!) Morale is at an all-time low. This company wants to squeeze as much work out of the technician as possible. During the Blizzard of 2010, we were made to work for 3 out of the 4 days that the Federal government was off due to bad weather and hazardous driving conditions (and driving is a big part of our job, as we must travel from location to location to provide service. The policy in previous years was that if the Government was closed due to bad weather, Xerox was closed as well.

Pros

A good place to work for work/life balance if you are under the right management. Lots of great ideas from very intillegent people.

Cons

Too many people that do nothing. People in the wrong positions often because of seniority. Managers sometimes are not qualified.
