I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Verizon (Bellevue, WA) in Jun 2009
Interview
The hiring process is somewhat long but necessary for a company so large. The interview process is driven by a manual of canned questions to ask for each position which makes the interviews somewhat of a joke in my opinion.

Question 1
None of the questions were difficult, simply canned and honestly quite obvious.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Verizon (Prescott Valley, AZ) in Nov 2008
Interview
Interview process wasn't too lengthy. I went through two phone interviews, and one face to face interview. Everything is done through HR, and final interview is in the store. Corporate recruiter was professional, but not real personality. Exisiting experience in customer service did give me an edge on negotiating my salary. Store manager was very nice and professional. Store interview was more about me as a team member in previous positions.

Question 1
All interviews are in STAR format. Situation Task Action Results. Always good to know if you are wanting a job with Verizon Wireless. Most difficult question was based on migrating an upset customer with a few choices for solution and ending on a good note.
