I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Verizon (Columbus, OH) in Oct 2008
Interview
Applications must be submitted online, first interview is always done by a Human Resources representative. After that it moves to the location manager and district manager in a joint interview. After the interview process, which can take up to 2 weeks, if an offer is made their is a background check and drug test that must be completed. Total time from application to hire can be as long as 1 month.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
This question will vary from manager to manager, the Human Resources questions are a standard from in the STAR (Situation/Task, Action, Result) format. None of these are tough. The manager can create their own questions, or ask you to do a mock sale.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Verizon (Lansing, MI)
Interview
I applied online and received a phone call and e-mail to set up an initial phone interview the next day. The phone interview was with an HR rep from corporate, just doing a lot of screening questions and mainly going over my resume. I was passed onto a second phone interview for later that week, which again asked basic questions over my resume, why do I want to work at Verizon, and a few more in-depth situational questions about my current position, and then gave me information on an in-person interview with the manager of the store I applied at.
The in-person interview went extremely well, I thought. Most all of the questions are situational ("tell me about a time....") and they do ask you to roleplay and sell a phone to them. I left the interview feeling extremely well, and was told I would get a call back whether or not I'd be receiving an offer the next week.
And that's where it started to get a little more gray. The next week I never received a phone call as promised. The week after, I called the manager and left a voice message reaffirming how interested I was in the position, and to please let me know if they'd made a decision yet. About three weeks later, I received an e-mail from corporate at 1:30 in the morning with a generic sorry, but no. I completely understand if it went to an internal candidate, it sounded like they had a lot of current employees who had applied - in fact I'd say that's a good thing, since it shows that the company hires and promotes from within. But after going through three interviews, I think a two minute phone call would have shown a lot of professionalism.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you didn't connect with a customer.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Verizon (Middleburg Heights, OH) in Jul 2011
Interview
Very hypothetical in interview process, if you know all the generic answers (i.e. I'm looking for a career not a job...) they will eat it up. They are overly thorough in background check and overly critical about education.
