Pros

This company has no pros

Cons

The money isn’t worth the trouble It’s hourly pay with no benefits. They just want you there for your title. They are selling a bag of snake oil. You will have take out a second mortgage on your house just to apply.

Still toxic

Pros

Strong mission, when it goes right it goes right, decent work/life balance

Cons

To do anything at Amnesty, you need buy-in from a host of thematic and country experts. Getting that kind of alignment is difficult though and because nobody is incharge lots of initiatives fall by the wayside. The way that staff end up filling their time and finding relevance is by blocking other people and politicking. The organisation doesn't achieve as much as it should so people act out even more in frustration. Amnesty's workplace was branded "toxic" a couple of years ago by an independent report and that hasn't changed.

Pros

Very passionate and talented individuals, many of whom are globally leading experts in their field.

Cons

Amnesty is a once-great organisation that is no longer fit for purpose and in need of wholesale reform. There were numerous strategic and operational failings by management in the time I worked there, and since. The culture of the organisation was not very collegial and sowed seeds of distrust between individuals and departments. A deep shame, considering the history and origins of the organisation.
