Pros

For many years Baxter was a flexible company with telecommuting options, part time options, job share options. The pay was equal to what you would find at a competing company. The management was flexible and nice. There were many opportunities to do work outside of your normal job.You could always take classes and learn something new.

Cons

In recent years the management has become very strict. There is no more working at home. It is hard to even leave to go to a doctor appointment and even making a doctor appointment on the phone is impossible. It is more than an uncomfortable place to work. You can never work enough hours and when they lay people off, they expect the people that are left behind to keep up as if there is no difference. Much of the work is being outsourced to India and they expect everyone to have a good attitude about that as they are doing the transitions to give their jobs away!

Pros

Baxter is a fast paced, diversified global healthcare organization so it's a great place for young employees looking for opportunities with a global leader in medica/ hospitall products

Cons

A recent leadership shake up and global downsizing of employees to increase shareholder value has created some uncertainty for employees and increased the already high pressure to perform. New Canadian organizational structure has yet to be tested. Focus is on the bottom line, not employees or the customers they serve.

Too many chefs, not enough Indians

Pros

They do invest in their people in terms of educational programs for career development. They have a good 4O1k and investment as well as good health care programs.

Cons

This goes to the head line…there is so many layers of management there and it so political that you can NEVER get anything done! They have a cabal of upper management that is so high on themselves and so far removed from the reps and customers’ needs that it’s ridiculous. Some of upper management titles change in less than a year and there never seems to be in interview process that truly examines their abilities to advance the business everyone else is counting on…including our customers and their patients. The place seems to be run by fleet of attorneys because NOTHING get done unless it gets reviewed by legal…and for the smallest things too.
