Hillrom in Skaneateles Falls, NY made some poor decisions during the pandemic. A medical device company that manufactures and sells medical thermometers, vital sign monitors, and hospital beds sold more than expected in 2020. How did they reward their employees? With coerced early retirements and layoffs. By the end of 2020, the company was woefully understaffed and management had no intentions of filling in the gaps or supporting the remaining employees. We lost several very knowledgeable long-time employees and suffered for it.

We are not sure which location you worked in, but your point on location is fair, and due to the sheer size of several sites, they are usually located outside of central cities. Pros

Was once a great company to work for which valued your contribution and treated you as an equal . Unfortunately the moral compass of the company has changed over recent years and this has been to the detriment of the employees who have been sold out

Cons

No longer seems to value the contribution and long term viability of its staff. You are never more than a number here as the recent 150 plus redundancies confirm. Unfortunately the mission statement of the company to maintain and sustain lives does not apply to employees when it comes to their careers
