Pros

Good pay and great paid training with wonderful trainers.

Cons

Your run on a point system based on how fast you complete jobs, how many items you can sell and how many jobs you can do a day. The expectation is set by people who havent done the job and is completely unrealistic. 8 people quit from my office in the 9 months i worked there due to being chewed out daily for not meeting sales goals or job completion rate. They give you a certain amount of time to get to each job but dont account for Bay area traffic which makes almost everyone "late" for there job arrival on a daily basis, the supervisors know its not the technicians fault since they drive in the same area but still have to give you monthly "talks" about being late because the system still says your late. Its a horrid place to work with everyone stressing out to meet goals on there employee point system. When I went out of town for my technician 2 training 6 months in, all but 1 person from my original class had quit.

Getting Worse

Pros

None, even the free Dish service isn't worth working here.

Cons

A few years ago, Dish was called out in an article as one of the worst companies in America to work for and nothing has changed despite the Glassdoor rating going up. I would assume this rating improvement is due to HR cajoling employees into giving five-star ratings so they don’t look so bad. You can see for yourself, there are a significant number of five-star ratings that simply give the rating and then contain vague one sentence positive comments, just enough to get the rating published. The culture is completely awful. The main corporate office has “core hours” which offer zero flexibility and essentially treat professional adults like children at school. On a daily basis employees can be seen running through the parking lot to make the 9AM cutoff for fear of landing on the dreaded badge report that lists any employee who isn’t through the turnstiles by 9AM regardless of dangerous weather or not. This report is sent to management with the expectation that anyone on it will be chastised for not making it in on time. The CEO even stated in an all company meeting that “Exceeding Expectations” would be someone leaving home 2-3 hours early on a snowy day to be waiting for him the lobby with a cup of coffee. Benefits are poor at best and you quickly realize that Dish doesn’t care one bit about its employees. The almost constant stream of resignations is met with the delusional response of “Not everyone is cut out to work here because we work harder.” It has nothing to do with working harder Dish is all about optics, putting in your time and kissing the ring of the right people. I honestly feel sorry for the college interns who take jobs at Dish after their summer of brainwashing. Lastly there is the absolute joke that Dish is trying to pass itself off as a tech company. This place bears absolutely no resemblance to a tech company. Quite the contrary, the tech IQ of the people here is about as low and out of touch as anywhere I have had the opportunity to work. Now I am sure there are some supremely intelligent individuals paid to handle the engineering and transmission functions of the business but they would be the exceptions to the rule. The lack of vision into the reality of the change tech climate of the work is astonishing. There is now an Idiot Club dedicated to learning about the ‘Internet of Things’. This would normally be a good thing except what they are viewing as cutting edge and forward thinking are devices and concepts that anyone who has a rudimentary knowledge of IoT would tell you are 3-4 years behind what is considered cutting edge. Projects, they are demonstrating in meetings are things you would see a 4th grade turn in as a project, it is laughable and sad. Do yourself a favor and skip by any job postings from this company, it’s not even worth your time reading the description.

Pros

None. I guess some co workers but everything else was crap

Cons

Worse company to work for. Low pay and lots of hard work. You are punished for no reason all the time. They make u work thru hurricanes and snow storms even if the tv is saying not to get out of the house unless you are part of emergency service, they still make you go or you will be marked off as absent. Management are chosen by who can brown nose more not by who is more qualified, probably because any qualified person would just not work there. Just awfull place to work
