Pros

You get a paycheck. That is it. This place was absolutely the worst place I have ever worked. It was a thankless job. Many of the customers appreciate you, but management sure don't.

Cons

It's a dangerous job. Field Service personel get injured all of the time. Falling off ladders, getting bit by dogs, lifting injuries, lacerations and bruises from crawling spaces and attics. Long work hours. I've worked on many occassions from 6:45am to past midnight. Then you are expected to be back at 6:45am the next day, if you're scheduled. And don't even think about being late. You will be written up without exception. When you are injured they still make you come in becuase they don't want you collecting disability. I once tripped while carrying the ladder. I tried to prevent myself from falling and dropping the ladder on the customers personal property. I pulled muscles in my back. I completed the job. The next day, I felt it bad. I told my FSM (Field Service Manager) and he treated me like a criminal. He took me to the clinic with 2 other technicians who had been injured on the same day. We were given medications and told that we would be on light duty at the warehouse for 10 hours per day, on a 4 day work week. For 2 weeks we were to clean up the warehouse, pick-up trash in the parking lot and in the bushes, help technicians clean-out their vans, stomp on the trash, etc. Still physical labor, with injuries. Unbelievable! There were at least 2-3 injured technicians at any given time. The managers all hate their jobs. Many of them are technicians that were too injured to go back out into the field. They are all in a power struggle with each other. They too have to work long hours and they can't go home until the last technician comes in. And as I mentioned, that can be anytime. I had a sales backgrofor my und and wanted to go into sales. I tried to transfer to sales, but the service side would not allow it. I quit and went elsewhere and am still a top producing sales person. Their loss.

Pros

Being given the ability to gain mass amounts of experience in different programs due to an exposure to a wide array of tasks and scenarios. There is a very diverse group of employees with different skill sets which can be tapped into. If you are willing to take the time to educate yourself, not wait for something to be handed to you, relocate for different chances, and most importantly listen to and accept any feedback (negative or positive) from peers, supervisors or anyone above, there is no ceiling to the amounts of knowledge you can gain, chances for advancement, or opportunities to explore. To open those doors to the future, you must actually own up to your past actions and behaviors while maintaining a realistic view to the depth of your knowledge in your area of expertise. Acknowledging your own personal downfalls, showing progress and making improvements goes a long way here. Even though there are negatives listed in this review, I enjoy working here as I enjoy the unexpected and unpredictable chaos. It's a new experience every day.

Cons

Medical benefits - but at least they are offered! There are times when favoritism from the management team appears to be the deciding factor over who is actually best qualified and most capable of completing tasks/filling roles. The assignment of demanding tasks by management can be very frustrating as it is usually done without being given direction or providing feedback during your progress through the task. Yes, you learn how to become very resourceful to find the answers, but it is at the risk of wasting time and decreasing productivity. At times, if feels like you are being dropped in the middle of the woods 300 miles away somewhere in the middle of Wyoming, having to return to your desk in the next 24 hours in business casual attire and providing that detailed yet not overly summarized business analysis using Calibri 11 font while the only tools they provided you with are a mini-mag flashlight with no batteries, one yellow rain coat two sizes too small, one red #2 pencil (specifically red with no sharpener), and black construction paper. (Yes - that is correct. It feels to be just as pointless and awkward as that last sentence and making absolutely no sense whatsoever.)
