Pros

You get to work in a nice office in downtown LA Digital Experience Design provided opportunities for learning about successful technical integration and sequence Fun Projects

Cons

This review is for the Digital Experience Design sector. BIPOC Diversity is extremely rare (may not even exist at this point) here. High amount of politics, focus on billable hours far supersedes employee satisfaction Not enough hours on Projects due to financial impacts. No real opportunity for growth Directors are too busy to provide proper employee support & growth opportunities, reviews were spent meeting with a boss that half listened (due to lack of care or perhaps busy-ness). Constant changes in leadership make it very hard to keep up with who is the providing direction & make it impossible to feel settled and grow. Everyone is running around extremely busy to make proper decisions for their staff or their Projects. Your experience and abilities will be reviewed at face-value (who you know and how close you are with your boss) rather than by true skill-set. Projects will be given to preferred team members rather than by Project type experience or Project Management abilities.

Pros

My reporting manager and organization members were great. My resignation had nothing to do with them.

Cons

Gensler does a lot of external marketing about equality, inclusion, and doing what is right, but their actions prove these are not values they truly value. I repeatedly dealt with inappropriate comments from a leader, both about my appearance and other personal, confidential, and protected information. When I resigned because of this, HR acted like they sympathized, but did nothing to support me. There was no sort of severance given to me, even for a week or two, and I had to sacrifice my financial well-being to step away from this uncomfortable situation and protect my emotional well-being. Even after bringing these comments to HR's attention (and I'm sure this was not the first time they received complaints about this person), that person stayed in their position of power, and still continues in that role. They were happy I left quietly and quickly. I could have pursued litigation for how poorly this situation was handled, but I did not. Integrity matters - this is where Gensler fell short. Gensler is a world-renowned firm with an amazing portfolio and plenty of amazing team members, but because of my position and gender, I was brushed aside. I was ecstatic to join the firm, so the fact that I stepped away should display how uncomfortable I was at work. My experience at Gensler was nothing less than disappointing. Had I felt supported and protected, I would have stayed. ALL employees regardless of position, gender, etc should feel safe at work. Gensler apparently values seniority over integrity, which is something I can't stand behind.

Pros

They work for big tech companies

Cons

-This is a small office part of a big company managed in the old ways. Which also values the old ways and methods of work. - Unhealthy work habits are valued; - If you are a big talker, using impactful words with a bullying personality, you don't need to actually know anything or even work because that easily convinces leaders. VERY few people do the heavy lifting. - DMs and Directors are not adequately trained; colleagues and leadership do not accept or value different personalities. - They ask people with no experience to be leaders of millionaires projects, and if they don't "own it," they are seen as a failure. -Their billing system is shady. You have to charge everything to the project. (If I were the client, I would be highly pissed off by that). Very few times they will give you an admin number to charge internal office meetings "events." - Everybody is frustrated and burned out all the time. This office will crush your spirit, soul, self-confidence, passion for your profession, and creativity. -Unless the leadership, DMs, salary, and culture in general change, I would never recommend this place to anybody.
