Don't be fooled by "Culture Journey" window dressing

Pros

It used to be the people but most of the good people have moved on as the firm focuses its attention on chasing the Big 4 and maximizing earnings per share for the partners. Interesting projects and clients.

Cons

Don't be fooled by the window dressing of the "Culture Journey" at Grant Thornton. The partners "talk the talk" but don't "walk the walk". Like most professional service firms, billable hours and sales are all that count - understandable - but Grant Thornton used to care about its people too. Now it is all about "enhancing the partner's wealth", which they accomplish by paying less than market, poor benefits, and zero to "joke" bonuses to employees.

Pros

They had a little bit of name recognition. The clients were somewhat recognizable.

Cons

As a female you are not given the same opportunities. Some partners create a creepy sexually fueled environment. And the other partners are aware and do nothing.

Pros

Great people, the people here are very supportive and friendly. There really is a team atmosphere and everyone supports everyone. They give everyone a voice and give people the chance to grow and learn.

Cons

The company likes to think they have a special culture, but in reality they are not big 4 firm trying to be a big 4 firm. The firm calculation for utilization rate is the worst policy they have, making their FTO policy meaningless because you cannot take any time off if you want to hit their utilization goals. They also compensate lower compared to other firms.
