Pros

The research being conducted is at the frontier of development economics research, and so it is an excellent place to learn and contribute.

Cons

The organization was growing a bit fast then, and sometimes things felt organized. I have learnt that since then there have been efforts to address some of the organizational problems.

Hands-on research experience with some of the best names in the development economics field.

Cons

Tasks are very project-based and there is little sense of organizational spirit.

Pros

I learned a lot at IPA and the work culture is great. You have enough space to learn and do things on your own but also have the supervision and tools to guide you in the right direction. You will learn not just about your work in research management and/or policy but also partner management, logistics, admin, and proposal development.

Cons

You will work long hours from time to time (even on holidays) and you really need to fight for your promotion.
