Pros

Beautiful office and very good work life balance. Time off was encouraged, lots of company social events. My immediate team was excellent and worked well together

Cons

Profits over everything. Numerous occasions people were cut to save money and then there would be hires in other countries that were significantly cheaper. Total disregard for retaining knowledge of the products and talk of fostering internal growth is extremely hypocritical. Also quality of new products was sacrificed for time in order to push sales.

Pros

-Highly regarded in the industry -Incredibly intelligent folks in research -good local office culture with many events for employees

Cons

-Arbitrary mandatory in-office days. Told we are being "closely monitored." -unattainable sales targets despite market comps and feedback. Blame when those targets are not met. -Bureaucratic culture makes it hard to advance in the company unless you sit in NY near the leaders or are loud enough to be heard. -Bonus' are not a large part of compensation despite sales culture. -talks about bringing on young talent but then lay-off junior staff the second earnings are down -2-week paternity leave policy is not in line with company "values"

At MSCI as you know we foster a long-term culture of growth where expectations are clear, every employee is empowered to deliver on their goals, and their efforts are appropriately recognized and rewarded. We encourage an environment where every voice is heard, no matter an employee’s level or location and we are sorry you have not been able to articulate your needs internally. We are here to support you. Our Future of Work model encourages our teams to find the balance between office-based and home-office work that best works for their clients, while remaining accountable for delivering on their goals. We find that employees who are able to spend time in the office are connected, energized through in person connections and better able to collaborate with other key parts of the firm – for Coverage this includes Research, Product and Technology. Days in the office are determined by managers, if you feel your days are arbitrary please let your HRG know. We do not monitor in office presence other than to manage our physical space and for safety reasons – we operate on the basis of trust. We also constantly review our benefits and paid leave allowances, and remain highly competitive. We encourage anyone who feels they are not getting the support they need to speak up - either to their manager or their local HR representative. In addition, our Engagement Surveys provide a platform to give anonymous feedback to managers.
