Pros

Work life balance, ability to find resources, great benefits.

Cons

Salesforce promotes top sales reps to become manager, problem is most of them are the worst managers- just because they did decent in sales doesn't mean they can lead. Many have been there for 4+ years and rode the wave to the top. They networked in the good club and got promoted and the reps they manage are miserable.

Thank you for your review. We work hard to ensure our promotion processes are transparent and fair, but we know we don't always get it right. That's why I am really looking forward to creating more transparency around the performance of our managers by allowing our employees to safely and anonymously rate them on a monthly basis using our new Feedback app. I encourage you and all of our employees to give fair and honest feedback that can help your managers improve. All of our leaders will be regularly reviewing the feedback on their management teams and will have the data they need to have the tough conversations with managers that need coaching. We hope this new outlet to create awareness of where we have issues will improve the workplace for everyone. Cindy Robbins EVP, Global Employee Success

Pros

The focus on philanthropy is unlike any place I've worked and truly is great. 7 days of Volunteer time off and 5k donation matching is huge. It really is an important piece of the culture. I'd also say: - Competitive Pay - ESPP program - Fun people - Office downtown SF - The coffee shops - Company events

Cons

The Ohana culture is wonderful but unfortunately it's not practiced by many leaders. They don't reward good leadership and embodying the culture. I had heard it was the influx of the Oracle culture - and the sad part is we talked a lot about how important the culture was but we didn't hold senior leadership for it...so there was a lot of bad behavior (yelling, bullying, not allowing work/life balance, etc) . Felt a lot like it was all for PR and branding but not really what was valued or practiced. There also is a lot of breaking points due to scaling growth - systems and technology in many functions are a joke. Many groups have had to create very manual processes b/c the systems are unreliable or not kept up to standard to scale.

Pros

Mark Benioff's vision and direction, the companies culture, the unbelievable amount of humanitarian work Saleforce is involved in around the world, working with smart people, relatively good products, the Salesforce reputation - unfortunately not applicable to the Sales organization.

Cons

The high pressure sales approach and unnecessary sales tactics used alienate customers and make the Sales teams look extremely desperate. The amount of pressure lower level managers apply to their teams is not effective, this causes the team members to spend more time justifying their jobs which in turn takes away from their ability to identify and close opportunities. Too many co-primes/overlays working with each team, this is inefficient and causes redundancy.
