Pros

Scotia Capital is a good place to work and one of the biggest players in commodities trading. Good working atmosphere.

Cons

Too compartmentalized. There needs to be greater cohesion among the many groups at Scotia. For example dealing with TAG (the IT group) was always difficult as they are regarded as in-house "contractors."

Pros

Work / life balance however I believe that depends on the supervisor Job security Multinational opportunities (if you are one of the fortunates) Decent benefits although nothing extraordinary

Cons

This is a Bank of silos. If you want to move to another department, most likely will have to take a demotion. Pay is below par and they want to convince you otherwise Things move too slow. Promotion is not a matter of being the most cappable for a role. If somebody is competing for the role that has been longer will likely advance because "he was due"
