Pros

Great people to work with. Very smart and talented engineers and technicians.

Cons

HR has way more power than I’ve ever seen at any company and upper leadership/HR doesn’t seem to ask engineering directors for input anymore. Promotion is impossible for top performers due to a bell curve HR sets across the company, and during recent layoffs it seemed like a roulette wheel instead of planning.

Not What It Used To Be

Pros

-Wonderful corporate office in Avon, OH. -Compensation and benefits slightly above average -Good work-life balance (although I am afraid this will continue to decrease as the turnover of executive management continues)

Cons

German parent company (Knorr-Bremse) is accelerating their goal of taking over all aspects of what used to be a great American company. Many executives and senior managers have left over the last 6 months (CEO, COO, multiple VPs), and nearly all have been replaced by German and other European employees from the parent company. Most positions below the director level are now being filled in Monterrey, MX as a cost savings (they call Mexico the "best cost country", rather than outsourcing to a "low cost country", like India).

Very Toxic Work Environment

Pros

Good pay. Good vacation and PTO

Cons

Very poor management structure. No one respects “the chain of command”. Any decision must be made by a large group of individuals, which cause projects to drag on. Upper management put unrealistic expectations without any kind of support. Annual reviews are a joke.
