Pros

I worked for Goodwill as a teenager (in 2012). I was a young college freshman/sophomore, 17 yo at the time. I was a Floor Associate. It was great for me in that I love working with the disabled and making a difference. Also a good place for a young person with no job experience to start. Pretty casual atmosphere, no stress at all. Most of the management I had was very helpful.

Cons

Very low pay, almost no opportunity for advancement if they know that you are only there for the short term. As a college honor student, management knew that I was only there for a 1.5 to 3 year stint. Needless to say, I never made it past minimum wage in the 18 months I was there, though I was one of the top employees. Benefits are not helpful to lower paid staff, as they cost approximately half of an average paycheck. The few disabled folks that did work there were pretty mistreated by the other staff.
